5 Home Decorating Mistakes that can be easily fixed.
Whether you're decorating a new home or just rennovating an exisitng room here are some common home decorating mistakes to avoid or change.
1: Pillow Overkill
While we do love pillows of all shapes, sizes and colours, too many and you or your guests may drown in them. Pillow overkill is also impractical sometimes meaning you will barely be able to even sit on your couch or bed. If you're a pillow fanatic then set them out as you normally would and try removing at least 2 or 3. Doesn't that look better already? And we can sit down.
2: Mixing Patterns
Mixing patterns can really bring beauty and excitement to a room as long as it is done properly. Avoid going beyond three patterns. Keep them sized correctly as well with one being small, one mid sized and one large pattern. Similar colours and backgrounds amongst the three patterns is also important.
3: Hanging Artwork
Hanging artwork incorrectly is one of the most common home decorating mistakes. Very small paintings or photos on a very large wall space doesn't really work. Also the height of the artwork is important. Make sure it is not too high or close to the ceiling.
4: Cluttered Rooms
Hoarders stop there! While we understand clutter in rooms can build over time if it is not controlled or eliminated altogether (as we'd prefer) it will only hide and take away from all your beautiful interior design and home decorating work.
5: Plastic Covers On Lamp Shades
OK you might be laughing at this one but you'd be surprised at how many people make this very common and unexplainable home decorating mistake. You know how to fix this one yourself. Pet peeve! We need say no more on the topic. So whether its a new home decoration you're about to undergo or just a room refresh project remind yourself of this checklist first and avoid any of the common decor mistakes.
